The Munsell color chart is used to determine what tpe of soil exactly is being examined, by determining hue chrona and value of the soil. The soil dichotomous key can be extremely useful for determining what kind of crops should be planted in an area, expected soil erosion, and what kind of rocks are expected in similar areas. The soil color chart can be found here. The soil texture diagram below shows percentages of silt, clay, and sand for particularly defined soil types.
